Pröll: Austria’s cultivation remains GMO-free – Import bans defended for the time being
At the Council of the Environment Ministers of 30 October 2007 fifteen EU Member States, among them large ones like France, Germany and Italy, backed Austria and voted against the Commission’s proposal asking Austria to repeal its import bans. Minister Pröll on WTO's Interim Report: No reason to modify Austria's GMO regulations
In a first interim report the arbitral tribunal of the World Trade Organisation in the dispute between the U.S.A. and the European Union condemned the national import bans imposed by several EU Member States. Support the Austrian GMO-Prohibition Charter with your signature
In August 2004 Agriculture Minister Josef Pröll presented the Austrian GMO-Prohibition Charter. The Charter contains eight guiding principles which include clear labelling, better consumer information, clear liability and coexistence regulations just as much as the support of countries and trade.
