EU Agriculture Council agrees on wine market reform
“I’m perfectly satisfied”, Agriculture Minister Josef Pröll said on 19 December at the end of tough negotiations on the reform of the Common Market Organisation for Wine. “Austria has won through. Kremstal DAC adds new driving force to an established area
As per ordinance of the Minister of Agriculture and the Environment of 10 December 2007 from the vintage year 2007 onward regionally typical “Qualitätsweine” (wines of above average quality) of the varieties Grüner Veltliner and Riesling from the Kremstal are for the first time permitted to be marketed under the designation “Kremstal DAC”. > more about: Kremstal DAC adds new driving force to an established area

DAC: Origin marketing strengthens Austrian wine industry
Meanwhile, Austrian winegrowers and Austrian wine have reached premium quality standards also acknowledged in an international context. The “DAC”, the new Designation of Origin, is supposed to enhance the marketing of regionally-typical premium wines.
